How much are you paying for it?

If you are paying more than $1 per foot for speaker cables, you are getting ripped off.

Some may even argue that $1 per foot is silly.

I also find there "6.0mm" spec as oddball.

I would assume that is 6mm diameter?

How about using AWG instead of mm.

I've been trying to convert meter to feet then pound to dollars

I think it works out 44 cent per foot.

i am not to confident my calculations are correct. If some want to confirm this £10 per meter is the first price i found.

I'm pretty new to this what do you mean about using AWG instead of mm. AWG being American wire gauge?

1m = 3.3 ft
£10 = $15.77

$15.77 / 3.3 ft = $4.79 per foot!!! = RIPOFF

And, it still isn't exactly clear to me what the 6mm measures.

Look at Monoprice.com

Depends on what I'm doing, but I typically use 12AWG or 14AWG. If I have the luxury, I go with 10AWG, but never anything smaller than 16AWG.

Look at PE

Or Monoprice

Or if you want to spend more $

BJC is a no-nonsense company. Broadcast quality and no snake oil or inflated prices (though not exactly cheap prices).

Like I said, if you are paying more than ~$1 a foot then you wasted your $. If someone convinces you otherwise, then they are cheating you out of $.

Your cable is approximately 10 Ga by American standards. It is a bit on the expensive side.

6mm is the outside diameter of the conductors, with the insulation. Cable huggers like to show this, as if it matters. If they were to look at Munster and a couple of others, they'd probably pass out because it's close to 1/2" in diameter.

Like many things I do, I'm prone to overkill. I run 8 gauge speaker wire to my LCR speakers, biamped to the LR, then 10 gauge to the surrounds. I won't do that again though. I do believe 10 is about all anyone would ever need.

How did you work out the gauge? would the 4mm be a better option?
I used the resistance value you had. Even though it is in the metric system, I converted it into the equivalent 1000 ft that is in standard tables in the US that has the gage values.
If the looks matter and if you can handle that 6mm, use it.
What is the next lower size available to you, 5mm or 4mm? Need resistance to recalculate
Looking in my chart, I think your size is for the cable with insulation, not the copper wire
size.

Ive been able to check the 2.5mm cable and yes it is the internal cable with insulation.

Next size down is 4mm

description Van Damme Blue Series Studio Grade classic pro loudspeaker cable 2x4.00mm twin axial
Overall diameter mm
11
Weight Kg/km 162
Conductor stranding mm 227 x 0.15
Conductor resistance Ohm/km 4.6

I'm thinking the 6mm cable is designed for an amp with XLR connectors. My amp is a low budget here is the spec.

Amplifier

Power Output
Front L/R 130 W/Ch
(6 Ω, 1 kHz, 1%, 1 channel driven, IEC)
Center 130 W
(6 Ω, 1 kHz, 1%, 1 channel driven, IEC)
Surround L/R 130 W/Ch
(6 Ω, 1 kHz, 1%, 1 channel driven, IEC)
Dynamic Power 180 W (3 Ω, Front)
160 W (4 Ω, Front)
100 W (8 Ω, Front)

My Speakers are bookshelf with 100 W/Ch (i don't know if this changes
anything)

Thanks Guy, I decided on the 'Van Damme Professional Blue Series Studio Grade 2 x 2.5 mm' which according to Amazon is 13AWG as well as these.
