UPS - Stepped vs. Pure Sine wave

I understand the difference between the two, but don't know how important it is for AV gear to get a 100% pure sine wave.
Projectors, AVR, Plasma TV, HTPC, NAS, wireless Router, etc.

Most of the online information is dated, back around 2012/2013, and older.

Specifically something like:
CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD vs. APC J25/J35.
$200-$300 price range

No well designed component should require "Pure Sine Wave' AC power. If we examine the current waveform of the AC power to an amp with a linear power supply, we will see 175% to 200% THD. I suspect that a SMPS will have even more current distortion.
