The Z2000 is really a very good model projector and was a quality $2,000 projector when it came out a few years ago. But, at $1,200 you aren't going to get a BETTER image really for your budget. At $1,200 models like the BenQ W1070 will give you proper 3D, but won't give you a boost in standard 2D image quality.

I, personally, wouldn't recommend you spend your money on a step sideways unless you REALLY want 3D, and one of the cheap 3D models happens to work in your space, or if the Sanyo has real issues associated with it right now that demand upgrade.

While 10 year old 720p projectors certainly get a good upgrade with the new cheap 1080p models, there are still some excellent 720p models which won't see a huge upgrade with new models, but a model that's just a few years old and 1080p? You just won't see a significant upgrade... or potentially any upgrade.

If your room is a dedicated space, then a good super contrast model like the Panasonic AE8000 or Epson 5020 will show an upgrade, as will the Sony or JVC models, but all of those run closer to $2,500 to $3,000. In a dedicated space, they would be worth it.

I would wait.
