Taming bass boom with a balloon?

Has anybody else tried this?
I have had problems with bass boom due to the fact that I need to have my rear ported speakers placed in the corners of the room.
I find the port bungs remove way too much bass, so I tested to put an inflated balloon just barely covering the rear port...and I find it's the best solution by far! The bass is there, but not the boom.
I encourage anybody with bass boom to try this solution!

Gonna need some pictures or a video to wrap my head around this one.

I guess it has a similar effect as putting a sound panel behind the speaker on the wall, which should also work.

Seriously, I have no life.

He has converted his speaker to a resistive port design.
