So what concerts are you all going to this summer? Looks like Brian32672 had a chance to see Stevie Nicks tonight and had a great time.

Anyone going/seen the U2 tour this year? I'm really bummed as they are not playing a concert in my city this time around and I'm a huge fan. :(

I've got tickets to see Green Day in September. I just can't stop playing "American Idiot" and am really looking forward to this concert as I've never seen them live before. I expect to see lots of Audiophiles there as we know how they love three cord rock bands. ;)

Actually I would classify Green Day as a two chord rock band

Yeah I had a great time. Its been a few years since I've gone to a concert. And now I want more. So I will check the U2 schedule, and see if they are playing near me. Always wanted to see them live and Fleetwood Mac (that'll be a never on Fleetwood)

Loudest concert was years ago (Hollywood Sportatorium), Motley Crue Home Sweet Home tour (ears rang for 3 days), Believe it was with Autograph. Others I have seen are Ted Nugent, Aerosmith, Yngwie Malmsteen, Iron Maiden, Kiss, etc..

But age has caught up a little, so no more Metal concerts.
Just easy Rock.

Very serious about U2. So if you already have a site where their tour schedule is please post it... Otherwise I will get around to it later, Thanks..

Ah, just checked... Only in Miami and Tampa. And I am not going to Miami!!!!

West Palm Beach or West Sunrise (Fort Lauderdale) only.. To bad...

Also no to Paul McCartney and Tom Petty. However yes to Green-Day. But I am not a big enough fan to pay for a concert.

From a local scene perspective

For those of you in and around the mid-atlantic area and are into the Blues:

www.thenighthawks.com

The Nighthawks (D.C. based) have been ripping it up for decades and haven't missed a lick.

www.phatblues.com

The Kelly Bell Band (Baltimore based) mixes blues with funk to produce a show that will make you keep coming back.

Both were just recently at the Linganore Blues festival and gave us a great day. If you get a chance, don't miss either one of them.

So nobody here has gone to the U2 concert this summer?

Has anyone been to the Green Day concert?

Anything else look interesting this summer?

I've got tickets for Green Day in Portland, OR, and for Nine Inch Nails in Seattle and Portland.
I am also thinking about System of a Down. They have a scheduled date for Portland in early October, but I'm not sure if I want to sit through the opening band....

Anyone hitting up Warped Tour this year? I'm gonna try and make it to the Charlotte, NC one.

I'm also going to the O.A.R. concert, either in Cary, NC or Myrtle Beach, SC

I don't do outdoor, crowded, loud venues any longer but the Native Americans have drawn me to their showrooms (ie casinos) with some pretty good fare in the last six months. Steve Winwood, the Doobie Bros, Heart and Brian Wilson, all in 1,000 seat theaters with decent sound systems and comfortable seating. Can't beat it and it's only 20 minutes away from the farthest one. My wife and I make an evening out of it, arrive early, have a nice dinner, a couple of drinks, see the show, have some desert and a nightcap and stay in the hotel(s).

Just got back from Dave Matthews Band live at Six flags Darien Lake in Buffalo, NY. WOW...WOW....WOW....pretty much sums it up. He is such a great performer. He played for a full 2.5 hours and had the place rockin the whole time. He played quite a few of his older stuff like crash, saygoodbye, when the world ends, what would you say, and took the roof off with a extended version of two step. He also fired in some great songs from his new album stand up, including bayou, and dream girl to name a few. If you get the chance and like dave, go to a concert, it is outstanding, the solos from carter on the drums, boyd on the violin, and of course dave on the guitar are just amazing.

DMB puts on a hell of a live show! We've seen them about 8 or 9 times, most recently (no pun intended) at the Vote For Change tour in State College, PA with Jurassic 5, My Morning Jacket, and Ben Harper...it was like a wet dream come true without the needed change of undies! For those of you that haven't heard My Morning Jacket (MMJ), check out their album "It Still Lives." Ben Harper goes without saying as he kicks *** left and right, but Jurassic 5 really left something to be desired. I've got both of their albums (Power In Numbers, Quality Control) and they're both great, but the sound was terrible for that type of show and quite frankly their style didn't fit the rest of the show.

BTW, Mort...you enigma wrapped in a piece of bacon tucked into a metaphor...nice to cross paths again. We'll have to make our way out to Temeculah and give you some grief some day! Especially with the new addition in tow! :D

Just went and saw Iron Maiden in Toronto, then down to Detroit for Ozzfest...wow...it's been a few years since I've been to a stadium concert. I thought all the "freaks" were normal, like me! ;) awesome shows...still lots of energy left in the ol' guys!

That's good to hear. Anyone going to see the Rolling Stones when they come around? I was watching the Bridges to Babylon DVD last night, Mick and the boys were still rocking pretty good on that tour. But that was almost eight years ago. I wonder how they are holding up?

So nobody has gone to see U2 or Green Day?

Summers Over

And I finally went to the Green Day concert when "September Ends", September 30th. The concert was a lot of fun and I had a great time. One thing was confirmed regarding Green Day, no doubt about it they have a much greater pop following than punk. Very few Punks in the crowd. I could not beleive how many teenie boppers were there. I thought the 16 year old girls sitting behind us were screaming louder than the music. A couple of highlights were the King for a day/Shout medley and We are the Champions covers they performed. My favorite song of the evening was Good Riddance which Billie Joe performed solo with an electirc guitar, it rocked. They didn't play my favorite Green Day song, Geek Stink Breath, which was a bit of a bummer. :( They also brought up three guys from the crowd to play drums, bass, and guitar during one of their songs. Surprisingly they played pretty well and I'm sure were loving their three minutes of rock star fame! Billie Joe gave the guy who played guitar his guitar, a nice touch.

I was also surprised how many parents brought along their 8 year olds. They either couldn't find a baby sitter or don't care that their children hear the work F$%K 1,000 times a night.
