I have been curious about tubes for a while too. I bought a tube buffer a while back, but really didn't notice any awe inspiring change.
A couple days ago I was researching tube amps on the net and came across a thread on another site on the Yaqin MC-10L integrated amp you see all over that auction site.
It gets rave reviews and for the $$$ I couldn't pass it up so I bought one. It should be here in a couple weeks. I'll report back my finding on how I think it compares to my Outlaws.
What appeals to me about tubes, other than the obvious cool factor, is the ability to swap out(roll) tubes for other brands to get different "sounds/tones" for lack of a better word.
That's what's nice about this hobby. SS vs. tubes? Try it all until you find what you like.
