Do these players upscale through their component outputs or only through HDMI?

I picked up Finding Neverland from Walmart for $5 and am very disappointed with its upscalability. At first I thought it was just the PS3 but after trying all my HD players I concluded that this is one of those DVDs that just won't look good upscale or not. I am somewhat surprised because this movie isn't that old.

Then I tried the XD-E500 that I have not used for some time and found the PQ almost watchable. Some scenes are still lack of sharpness and noise is generally bad, but at least almost watchable. Has anyone tried this DVD on the Oppo?

Agree, if you want a toy for games that happens to play BR get the Sony but if you want the best player and games dont matter get the Oppo.
