Thanks in advance for the help, I'm a newbie who's decided to reactivate my 1980's vintage Sony turntable and start spinning my old record collection again...

I've still got the original audio technica vs215ep cartridge, but the stylus was knocked off during a move-

I've budgeted up to $150.00 to either replace with a new cartridge/stylus or just replace the stylus-

Which direction and what contemporary products or manufacturers would you recommend.

The system this would be playing on is vintage '80's Sony receiver- with a pair of JBL floor speakers and a pair of Bose speakers - I'm obviously not an audiophile, but I'd like to preserve the vinyl and get the most out of the system.

Hard to go wrong with ...

a basic Grado cartridge. They track great with almost any tonearm/table combination and will easily meet your budget amount. I've had half a dozen over the years personally and installed even more for friends. Everyone was a satisfied customer.
check out their website; http://www.gradolabs.com/

Cheers!
