samsung ht -z220 and subtitles

Hello.

I have a samsung ht-z220, and when i try to play an avi file using the usb host function, the subtitles wont show. the subtitles have the same name as the avi and have the smi extension (created using subtitles workshop). I have tried with different avis but none of them works. what could be the problem?

I have had similar problem. I eventually gave up finding a solution. Instead I downloaded a free program that will hardcode the subs in the video. takes a while to do, but I set my computer to do a batch job and it did all my movies over the weekend. A low tech solution, but it works

apparently the player doesn't support softsubs, so do what Hasselhof said. hardcode the subtitles.
