There's a recent... um... exploit? hack? ...method that allows owners of some universal blu-ray players with a particular chipset to rip SACD discs to ISO files. Previously the only way to do this was using a particular Playstation model with a particular very old firmware. I only have one SACD but it has always bugged me that, unlike every other disc I own, I was dependent on the original disc and couldn't rip it to my music server and archive it in its original quality. Archiving worked perfectly with this method, it didn't involve any hardware I didn't already have, and it didn't modify the firmware or hardware in any way.
