I always turned it off anyway with my Logitech wireless controllers because it wastes the batteries big time. It doesn't bother me to not have it, but it is a cool feature.

I never turned it off but I was actually worried when I bought my PS3 that I would miss it. Then I forgot about it completely. Once I started playing the rumble feature never entered my mind again.

I wonder how long battery life will be cut down with rumble on though.

With the Logitechs I think it was about a 50% reduction in battery life, but obviously depends on how much rumble is going and how often. My Logitechs lasted months on 2 batteries. The current PS3 controllers last only a few weeks even with no rumble - I cycle them, use one and charge the other.
