Trying to figure out if I should get a cheap receiver to get through til HDMI 2.0 comes out on most receivers. If it won't be horribly long, I'll probably just wait and use the time doing lots of stuff outdoors. If it will be a while, or next year, I'm going to have to buy something for like $100-150 and make due. The only reason I'm worried about hdmi 2.0 is because it will almost certainly be useful to have down the road, and I don't want to replace a flag ship receiver in a few years.

The new Pioneers have HDMI 2.0 starting at around $400. I haven't looked at the other brands, but I wouldn't be surprised if they also had it.

Unless your upgrade path has an immediate need for 2160/60p from your 4K source, don't worry about HDMI 2.0.

So it won't likely be useful for anything else in the next 5 or so years?

Not necessarily. PC video cards can do 2160/60p video. So, if you have a 4K TV, the need can exist today. The question is, where is the content? Games at max graphics mode, maybe.
