Receiver and Speakers $1200 Max

Ok Guys,

Here is the situation. A friend of mine is interested in a set of speakers and a receiver for his HT that he is setting up. He has already bought a Panasonic TC-P54G25 TV and is now willing to spean a maxmum of $1200 for receiver, speakers and a sub.

He would like the reciver to be HDMI compatible. What do you guys recommend ?

Alternatively, without changing the receiver

3 pairs of these for 5 speakers + 1 extra because they're sold in pairs
with this sub

but if we're getting into bookshelves, then right back to the first link we can switch to this and still squeeze in the aformentioned sub

The room size is 22x18 and serves as a living and dining room. It is a studio.
