Receiver power
Your pioneer will probably be fine at reasonable volumes in a moderate size room. Check the temp on the receiver periodically to make sure it isn't getting too hot driving the 4 ohm speakers. If the receiver goes into shutdown then you need to lower the volume or get an amp.
