Pioneer VSX-45

I just recently hooked up my home theater. I am trying to use my Direct TV RF remote because it will be the most user friendly with the HD DVR set top box. The problem is the Pioneer is not RF capable. So I decided to run an IR extender from my Audio equipment room (25feet away) to my TV but The IR extender is not working. Any suggestions

I'm a bit confused, how is the ir getting its' codes to transmit?

I programed my Direct TV remote with the Pioneer codes then I extended the IR into the main room with a little button size IR. However, this didn't work and looking for inexpensive work around
