Pioneer BDP 05

Hi Guys,

I know that my Pioneer BDP 05 player is an older unit, but I wanted to know if any of you guys can tell me if with the recent firmware if it can play a SACD.

I do not have any of those cd's now, but am intending on getting some. Just wanted to make sure that it can play it before I proceed with the SACD's.

Hi, Fowl. Hopefully someone here knows more, but I just checked out the firmware change history that includes up to firmware 1.73 (text file linked here from Pioneer's BDP-05FD page), and I didn't see any reference to SACD playback.

Thanks Adam, I will wait to see if someone else can chime in as well. If not I will get one of the OPPO BDP 93 or the Pioneer BDP 53 to go with the rest of my Pioneer stuff.
