I think most people here will tell you to pass on the Bose setup. Everything els should be just fine. Go to the speaker section and look at all the recomendations in the price range you would spend for that Bose and I think you will get a much better setup

So the Denon receiver will be a great investment and change the speakers???

If you looking at Bose for the appearance and size there are much better options out there. Look at ORB audio or even the Mirage Nanoset speaker system at crutchfield for $799. A much better system for a lot less.

I second the receiver choice. The Denon gets great reviews.

Bose is overpriced for the level of performance they provide. I suggest another brand like those mentioned. Here is one of my favorite bang for the buck home theater in a box solutions.

https://www.klipsch.com/products/details/cinema-8.aspx

As a general rule, the smaller the box, the smaller the sound. If this solution is too big, they have others but you will compromise the audio quality consideably and that is why Bose is not generally regarded as a quality audio solution.

lol, that was my reaction too. :D

CrazyCollector: please don't think that we're picking on you, it's just Bose isn’t well liked around here (and not without good reason). :)

And if I may offer a suggestion; even if the Bose system was worth $1,200, it shouldn’t be paired with a $2,000 receiver. A good receiver is important to good sound quality, but, speakers are much more important. A budget that is lopsided towards the receiver will not bring you the best that your money could get.

exho the others

1 -4, yes
5, no. Get out there and so some listening instead of depending on this board. You may get some great suggestions but everyone's tastes are different. This is more of an issue with speakers than anythng else.

And, look at the subwoofer as a separate purchase, not as part of a system.

I have some questions. You selected the Bose for a reason. What was it? Size? Family approval? If size, there was suggestions of other small speaker choices that might fit.

Your viewing needs? I see the PS3, an HD type playback player. Movies as well, Bluray? No HD? While that Denon is great, I would think that you may want to wait a bit for a receiver that does HDMI 1.3 to take advantage of the higher quality soundtracks on hi-def movies, be it HD or BluRay.

The 4306 is way, way overkill. Really. Figure the total amount you are willing to spend on speakers, DVD player and receiver. About 65% of that should go to speakers. Speaker choice and room acoustics control sound quality. The receiver has little to do with it.

I agree. A small speaker system doesn't require that receiver, and as Mtrycrafts pointed out, Having a PS3 and not waiting for the new audio codecs doesn't make much sense.

I totally agree. Unless you happen to need all the feature that receiver has.

Yes it's an awesome receiver. But over-kill for the system your putting together.

For the same $1300 bucks look at this system.

4- http://www.av123.com/products_product.php?section=speakers&product=82.1

1- http://www.av123.com/products_product.php?section=speakers&product=91.1

Add This- http://www.svsound.com/products-sub-box-pb12nsd.cfm

Or This- http://www.svsound.com/products-sub-cyl-pcpow2.cfm

Oops it came in under your $1300 speaker budget. :D

This is just one of the system you could put together that would sound awesome compared to the Bose system.
If you like the Bose because of their size, please let us know so we can recommend other speakers. :D

And I would use this receiver. This receiver is even over-kill, but your still saving money and getting a feature packed receiver.

We give you permission to buy the 2807 only if you take the money and upgrade the subwoofer, as suggested by others.;)
