Offloading HD content from DVR to DVD

The Olympics have helped max out my Cox Cable HD DVR hard drive, so it's time to get serious about recording to DVD some of the programs I want to keep. What is the best hardware to do that with for less than $200? I know I can't burn in HD, but I'm not sure whether what will end up on the DVD will be worth keeping. Will I get a letterbox version at lower definition, or will it cut off the outer part of the image?

My setup:
Cable Box: Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300HD
Tuner: Pioneer VSX-1018
TV: Pioneer PDF-6020FD Plasma
BD player: Sony Playstation 3

Connection: All my video sources go into the tuner, which outputs HDMI to the TV. The tuner has composite & component outs, but no S-video out.

Is the Toshiba DR410 good for this application? Thanks for any advice.

Look for a DVD recorder with Comonent video and digital audio for the best A/V quality. You wont find any "legal" devices that will decorde and record an HDMI signal.
