I think the President should greet dignitaries however is considered respectful in their world. Just as I think the President should be greeted in the manner that we think is respectful.

Maybe our prez can start a new tradition and demand he be greeted with a BJ and no reciprocation......

.....Moderator Annunaki, I take exception with what you say is going on....fox-news, the total hypocrite/IDIOT rash limbo, and republican blog-sites have been after Obama since he first announced he would run....all the above mentioned, have smeared him with OUTRIGHT LIES and HALF-TRUTHS the WHOLE time....you can bet your LUNGS, higher-up republicans are ANGRY because they're in no position to STEAL big monies with the current arrangement....THAT'S the main problem I see....some of you Guys need to stop reaching out from under the covers and punching the snooze-alarm so you can sweetly dream some more about the email forwarded to you from some HORSESHIT republican blog-site.....

.....and when has that ever happened?....but yes, at this point, stressing Obama needs to be voted out next time, seems to be the theme of the republican party, doesn't it?....I say again, Greed is a Sickness, and is a SIN against fellow men, imo, when it involves the hoarding of money by unscrupulous means....(stepping down from my tree stump)....(no cows involved).....
mulester7, Annunaki isn't a republican.

Just that foolishly optimistic isn't my style. ;)
Boy, how's that for ironic. The one and only time I ever try to say something good about Obama, I get *****slapped and sent to the remedial class. That's too funny.:D

Seriously, I have no life.
We as Americans need to bow down to the rest of the civilized world to ask for forgiveness for our past imperialistic ways. Our arrogance is what is wrong with this world, and Obama is the man that can bring respect back the the red/white/and blue..........Obama was right to bend over deep at the waist.......and bow.

why the fuss?
:)

If we submit, we can be popular in Europe and radical Muslim terrorists will lose their will to fight. Doing so is a Win/win!!
First, we don't have any monopoly on Imperialism and if it hadn't been for Britain's Imperialist actions, the Middle East would be less of an ongoing problem. They booted the Palestinians out after WWII and they're still trying to get back in.

Also, why do you want us to be popular in Europe? Being a suckup is the same as being a doormat.

FYI- radical Muslims will NEVER lose the will to fight. Even if the whole World was Muslim, they'd still be fighting over a turd pile, somewhere, against people who look just like them.

Your last comment looks like you paid as much attention to McCain's campaign speeches and comments as many who voted or Obama paid to his. Obama promised things that he now says may not happen and in fact, said he wouldn't even run for President until after his first Senate term was over. Voting for someone only because they promise change isn't a good thing when the changes he wants are sweeping, drastic and intended to control EVERYTHING. The Democrats voted for Socialism, whether they know, admit or want it. The only thing Socialism does is keep people from wanting to do things for themselves.

If you mean Capitalism didn't work, I think you're dead wrong. People in government ignored the signs of impending collapse after other people forced banks to lend to those who weren't worthy of it because they had no/bad credit ratings and couldn't afford to pay the loans on time in the first place. The banks sold these loans to third parties and freed up some cash but once the third parties bundled hem or sold the notes to someone else who bundled them into a neat little unidentifiable package, nobody knew what they were buying. When the loans were defaulted on, the wheels fell off not because of the system, because of people who saw weaknesses in that system and exploited them.

Sleazy members of government (Barney Frank, Franklin Raines and Chris Dodd, among others) aren't taking responsibility for this and they need to be nailed to a wall for it. A college student asked a question when Frank was at a public appearance/speaking engagement and it was time for Q&A. Frank turned it around and tried to make it into "Why are you accusing me of this?", when the student repeated that he was asking a question, which Frank never answered. The question had to do with whether Frank feels at all responsible for the mortgage meltdown.

If people know that what they're thinking of doing is wrong and they do it anyway, the effects can't be blamed on the system they're exploiting.

Greed and avarice are the downfall of any system that was set up with the best of intentions. Even in a system that was specifically designed to control the masses, someone will always come along and pervert it.

.....HighFigh, this was circling back during the election....is there "still" any truth to this?....I think so.....

What if John McCain were a former president of the Harvard Law Review? What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class? What if McCain were still married to the first woman he said "I do" to? What if Obama were the candidate who left his first wife after she no longer measured up to his standards?

What if Michelle Obama were a wife who not only became addicted to pain killers, but acquired them illegally through her charitable organization? What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard? What if Obama were a member of the "Keating 5"? What if McCain was a charismatic, eloquent speaker?

If these questions reflected reality, do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they were?

This is what racism does: When there is a color difference, it covers up, rationalizes and minimizes positive qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another.

Wow, that's a pretty damn cheap shot by any standard. The only discussion I've seen of Obama is what he says and what he does. Any discussion of that is valid whether he's pink, purple or orange. Pulling the race card is generally a tactic for those who want to end valid discussion when they themselves have nothing relevant left to add.

Criticism of Obama is valid from a number of perspectives, from his political inexperience on the world stage to his economic strategy's potential to turn a market correction into a decades long depression. And none of this has to do with his skin tone. To suggest otherwise is totally disrespectful of the other people in the discussion.

Yes, I live in Canada but I still enjoy an intelligent discussion with intelligent people. I just try to do that without insulting the others in the discussion. If they are irrational, unintelligent or racist, I let them prove that with their own words, not by throwing out innuendo or unsubstantiated allegations.

BTW, if you think that because I'm Canadian that I'm not affected by POTUS' actions, you are mistaken. The economic decisions and actions of the US gov't affect me, my friends and my family directly.

And that's the problem right there, Dave. There are (too) many here who trade personal opinions and insults off as facts and reasoned debate. I guess that facts only confuse their biases and debate only confounds their brains. Their emotions seem to override open-mindedness or discoursive ability. This is exactly how your premise or post was waved off with a dismissive "whatever you think, Dave". That's why these threads become useless. Why should they be open to learning or even intelligent discussion when apparently they already know everything?! These threads always devolve into agitated opinion slinging. I think you've come to the wrong place if you're looking for reason and enlightened discussion.

It also amazes me that some people who don't approve of these political threads nevertheless find it necessary to read them, sarcastically post in them, and occasionally even start them. I guess it's like a train wreck that they can't avert their eyes from...and some even have to first create the train wreck.

Ultimately, I honor particularly you and Annunaki for your logical persistence, patience with shouters and sarcastic people, and knowledge of historical and political matters. I wish I owned those virtues.

Highfigh, you are missing one crucial point.
Most (not all) people that voted for Obama don't know Barney Frank, Franklin Raines and Chris Dodd.
Most young voters get their news from the John Stewart Show on the comedy channel.
I wish I were kidding, but it's true.
Oh that, and skits on Saturday Night Live.
