Hi,

So I have recently bought the Onkyo PR-SC885 pre/pro and I am planning to couple it with an Emptiva XPA-5 Amp.

I need recommendation for tower speakers to go with it in 1200-1500 range.

Any suggestions on what would be a good buy?

I just delt with saturday audio and I was very happy with their level of service. Andy and Ryan have been very helpful.

But the P362 is on sale at Frys right now at $129.99 + shipping so that is a hard choice. I probably would have gone with those if I hadn't just bought my PSB speakers. Don't get me wrong - I am very happy with my PSB towers I just would have had more money left over so I could get my HTPC up and running sooner

I had the following in mind:

1. PSB Imagine T Towers
2. B&W 683
3. Paradigm Studio 100
4. Paradigm Studio 60

Any feedback on Axioms??? How are they compared to the above mentioned speakers?

Axioms are "supposed to" sound similar to Paradigm. I had heard the Studio 60's and I liked them. I was told I would love the Axiom M80's. I sent them back last week. I had been
advised that Axioms were bright. I chose to ignore that and order them anyway. I had a problem with music being bright but for HT use they were pretty good most of the time. If you have a heavily treated room that might diminish some of the brightness.

I don't remember feeling the Studio 60's were too bright.

I've heard that the Aperions are not as forward or bright as the Axioms but I haven't heard them.

I did do a side by side with Axiom M80's against Salk Song Towers. I would think they would outshine everything in this class.

I did hear the Imagines against the Studio 60's. These are a pretty good and balanced speaker. Good bottom end and good WAF. Not nearly as detailed as the Studio 60's. I would have chosen the Studio 60's but I can see how a lot of people would like them.

So between Studio 60s and B&W 683s, what would you recommend?

Does anyone have any experience with the Swan 6.2s??

I cannot audition them 'cause there is no dealer in Seattle :(

Does anyone have these speakers? How do they fare when pitted against the Studio 100s or the B&W 683s??

What are your thoughts on Def Tech BP7002?

How do they compare to Paradigm Studio 100s?

How is the Imagine T series from PSB?

T65 seem quite affordable from dmc-electronics, my only concern is how do they sound when compared to say Paradigm Studio 60 or 100?

To each their own. I was one of those that told Bob that the Studio 60/100 are very similar to the M80 and I stand by that.

The best thing is to listen to as many speakers as you can. As you can see, we all have different taste.

The Studio series is a league up from PSB Image series and prices reflect this. If you want to compare studio series, look at PSB's Imagine series speakers for a more apples to apples comparison. Here's a review of a HT suite built around the T65s and they comapred to an Axiom HT built around teh M80s and the reviewers thought the PSB the better setup of the two.

I did listen to the psb Imagine Towers recently, the highs and the mids were fine, but the lows were almost non-existent :(

Subs seems to be necessity if I do plan to buy these speakers. Anyone else had a similar experience?
