would the braces need to be mdf too? because planning this all out i have enough mdf to do everything except the 2 brace pieces. if they have any scrap mdf i should be good but just incase
You could just use 3" by .75 ply and brad nailer. Do a few of those slats (two or three).

The 1260w's are $51 shipped *via prime... How did you end up at $80? I must be spoiled by Amazon Prime shipping.

You must give strangers the impression that you're poor. :D
Otherwise, you'd have been robbed.

Detroit is a mess.

Hey now! It's not all that bad, you just have to know the areas to avoid. There are good parts, like near the casinos and sports stadiums and whatnot. I live about an hour from Detroit, (when I'm not at school), and really only go there for Red Wings games, fireworks, and the autoshows. You just have to know where to go when you're there.

A lot of out-of-towners are scared to come to Detroit for its rep, and to be honest, it's a very valid reason to not come. If you aren't familiar with the area, you are likely to take a wrong turn and end up in the heart of the ghetto.

A few years back I was driving down there and stopped at a red light, a policeman pulled up behind me as the light turned green. So I went to pull away from the light and he flashed his lights on and pulled me over. He then proceeded to ask me why I stopped at the red light, and if I was there to buy drugs. He told me to not stop at anymore red lights in the area until I got back on the highway.

edit: I should note that I have my windows tinted to <5% all around on my blacked out Yukon, which doesn't help the appearance I suppose.

Just avoid going to Detroit at night if you've never been and don't know your way around. During the daytime, you'll most likely be alright. If you start seeing houses with the front doors wide open and/or plywood windows; be sure to lock your doors, roll up your windows and take as many right turns as you can so you don't have to stop at red lights as often.

yea my mom made a few wrong turns last time she went there... and i was with her. her 300c was turning quite a few heads. i dont think she'd have that problem with her caravan though. now that i think about it... we dont have a single car worth stealing except my dads maverick but that thing ran for about a month before he messed up the engine. i feel poor :(

got the sub today. it slams crazy hard. it bottomed out D:
ive never owned a good sub before so im new to all this. my sony bottoms out all the time... but i dont care about it.

its mounted in the box it shipped in until i finish the good box at school (its a hefty box though, 6 layers thick:eek:)
anyways it bottoms out.... rather easily with this song
Empusae - Out Of Question (Misère II) - YouTube
and its only being driven by maybe 120 watts from my reciver. i know the box is part of that because its almost like free airing it but if i have it in a good enclosure at 300w wouldnt it still bottom out? and is bottoming out going to damage it? (i figure it would but im no expert)

A sub in an optimal enclosure can still bottom out. You could try a horn sub, though.

You are gonna blow the sub if you keep bottoming it out. Do you have a high pass filter?
no. i have an equalizer though but i cant use it because im using my receivers built in subwoofer amp

List your equipment. A sub can bottom out with enough power applied (and also smoke a voice coil or detach a tinsel lead or....)

Trust me I just killed one of my TC Sounds DB 500 in a sealed enclosure messing around.

yeeeaaahhh, sounds like a fun idea to throw a sub in any box that will hold it and hook it up to anything that will power it to get an idea of what it will sound like. Bad idea. You could definitely damage the sub. Just be careful, man. I would wait til you get that box built and amp hooked up. Should be a cool sub.
