I need an external amplification solution for my secondary HT. I have a Yamaha rx-v2500 and 5 moderately sensitive speakers. I'd like to spend less than or around $400, and no more than 500. Right now, I'm thinking a 5 channel amp would be the most simple...any suggestions?

If you don't need a lot of power for your second zone, then there are several low watt options. But if you're looking for a decent amp with sufficient wattage, the low-end one sold by AV123 is just above your price budget. You need to figure out how loud you need your speakers to go to figure out how many watts you need.

Budget amp

I don't know of any 5 channel amps in that price range. In fact, most $400 stereo amps are considered budget models.
The new Emotiva UL amp has a "family" price of $600. Either save for that or get a 2-3 channel amp and let the receiver run the surrounds.
