Looking for an AVR...

Hey guys,

I'm looking to finally setup an AVR and some speakers at home. My understanding is that if I have any inputs connected directly to the TV, my TV will downgrade the audio signal that's output via Optical, and that all of my devices should be plugged in directly to the AVR. Is this true? If so, I need an AVR with more than 6 HDMI inputs (I already have 6 HDMI devices as it is right now). In addition, I need an AVR receiver that supports HDCP 2.2, as I'm planning on getting a 4K TV. Lastly, will ARC help me at all here?

Note: I'm only planning on going with a 3.1 speaker setup as I don't have room for two rear speakers, and I'm planning on getting the Samsung UN60JU7100, if that helps at all.

ARC will not help. The only way to get digital HD audio is to have the source plug into the receiver via HDMI. Alternately, you can have a BluRay player send analog signal to pre-in on the receiver.

HDCP 2.2 is not a limiting feature unless you have a source that supports it and you're playing native UltraHD content. IMO, you can wait it out for at least a couple more product refreshes.

The Onkyo NR636 is the cheapest receiver with HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2, but, they had to give up Audyssey as the compromise.

If you're not into Atmos, previous gen mid level receivers offer the best bang for buck. My order of preference,
