Linking Multiple Receivers together?

Hi,

I have 17 speakers and 5 receivers in my living. I was wondering the most efficient way to link them all together without creating a lot of distortion or loss of quality. Currently I have two of my receivers hooked up through some Y RCA splitters, but I couldn't imagine putting 8 more Y's in there. I was wondering if there was some type of distribution block or something in that neighborhood. Thanks!!!

that's a lot of speakers!

are those 17 speakers playing the same source?

your best bet is to DIY your own splitter using some sort of RCA wall plate
OR
you can email http://bluejeanscable.com/ if they can make a custom splitter for you (i'm thinking they will)

What is your source (composite, digital coax, digital fiber, HDMI)?

If you want to distribute the audio only, use the pre-out from the one that receives the cables from the sources and connect it to an AV distribution amp like this:
http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=180-006

If you want to distribute AV using component, they have this:
http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=180-008

and if you want to send component, composite, analog audio and S/PDIF digital audio, there's this:
http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=180-004

yea, I do not have them all playing at the same time simply because I do not have anything to link all the receivers together, but yes, if I individually put my audio source into each one individually, they all play and power the speakers quite well! Thanks

If you're distributing only the audio, that composite AV distribution amp will work fine. I have used their component video DA and they work great. The first one is still cruising along, 6 years later and it stays on all the time.
