So my home theater budget just tripled and while excited i'm slightly terrified at the thought of spending this much on speakers. I'm once again looking for opinions. I have approximately 4000 to get a 7.1 set up out of. But I'm going to build it piece by piece and the first things are the mains. Eventually a second pair will be added to be the rears. How important btw is voice matching between the center and mains. I haven't checked to see if axion produces a center channel that would match to this so of course that could impact my decision. But anyway opinions?

Svs Mts-01 http://www.svsound.com/products-spks-mts01.cfm

And in a second part the Klipsch rw-10d
http://www.klipsch.com/products/details/rw-10d.aspx or the
the svs pb12nsd http://www.svsound.com/products-sub-box-pb12nsd.cfm as a sub (always open to suggestions as well)

And finally since I didn't know they were offered. Any thoughts on the axiom home theater systems? in bang for the buck they look pretty sweet.

Thanks
-Matt

Matt, timbre matching across the front is pretty important for the big, cohesive, front soundstage. Not so much for the surrounds. Yes, Axiom has matching centers.

If you’re uncomfortable spending that much, for around $1800 shipped (5.1) you could purchase an Ascend Acoustics CBM-170/CMT-340C/HTM-200 combo and an SVS PB12-NSD.

Skip Klipsch subs.

Thanks Avrat, ok space is 12'x12'x8' about. And I'm not uncomfortable. Just one of those people who is freshly married and 3 years out of college. Just not used to having that much money to spend on AV. Do you have any thoughts on the Axiom home theatre set ups? I want good to great sound at the same time I'll be honest, I really don't have the attention span to spend weeks listening to speaker after speaker. If there is an easier solution that doesn't suck (read isn't bose or lower here) I'm all for it.

As an owner of both Klipsch (RF-63) and Axiom (M60) speakers, my advice would be to go with the Axiom's. The 63s were the first speakers I purchased and I got the Axiom M60s about a year later. The RF-63s are the second to the top of the Klipsch Reference line, behind the RF-83s. The 63s retail for $2,000 and the 52s retail for $700, while the Axiom M60s are $990. I have never heard the 52s but I think the 63s would out shine them in just about every audio aspect. That being said, after getting my M60s I have found them to be far and away superior to the RF-63s. Don't let the price tag fool you, the Axiom's are half the price (before a dealer discount) but are an excellent speaker. Now, before getting my Axiom speakers I was very happy with the Klipsch. People like to say the Klipsch are "forward and bright", which I never thought until after hearing the Axiom's. Anywho, to make a long story short, my advice is to go with the Axiom's. If you don't like them you can always send them back for a full refund, but I think you'll be more than satisfied.

Thanks for the advice. I listened to the klipsch at Theater extreme. I thought I was hearing some crackling in the low mid range. Listening to Eric Claptons "Lay down sally" So I wasn't totally sold on them. I like the fact that Axiom seems to focus on the home theater aspect of sound. I still want to listen to them so I'll have to find someone who owns them near columbus Ohio and I would also like to listen to the svs set. The factory is in Youngstown Ohio. Does anyone know if SVS does factory tours/ has a show room there? I really feel wierd even considering speakers (despite that they come recommended by boarders I respect like Isiberian and Jamie) that I can't hear.

Like Sgtpepper, I like the Axioms. The M60 is a very detailed neutral speaker. Though Axiom focuses a lot of promotion on HT, these speakers are built for music first (which also makes them great for HT).

Check their Hearing Things forum to find someone close to you for an audition.
