Hey, newbie here to the audio world. im currently running a few unknown name speakers at home. I have made a box for them but while making it the speakers had a small magnet. I put tweeters and boxed it up and it is loud but not alot bass. so im guess there were for highs and mids only. I have a kicker L5 i want to connect to it. i wired it up directly and it only can play to a certain volume and then the amp shuts off. I know i need some kind of converter since the ohms on the kicker is 2 and the receiver and amp handles 4-8ohms

can some one help me and let me know what i would need to run this

Id reccomending checking out DIYMA.com..

Your amp is shutting off because your driving it hard to play a lower ohm load than what it was built to handle. You can not simply connect random speakers to any amp, mobile or home. Visit the forum i listed, you will get a great understanding of how to build a nice DIY speaker.
