Which speaker system do you think I should purchace? The Athena Technologies Micra 6 or the JBL SCS145.5? I recently saw the JBL at costco for only 150.00 but the Athena 8 at bestbuy.com for 299.00. I am using a 10 yr old SONY receiver to power my current speakers but I feel that I should just start from scratch. So its either the Athena 8 or the JBL. Which do you guys think I should get, my living room is preaty small so I dont have room for large floor standing speakers.

Athenas by a long shot

Rak,

If it is between those two go with the Athenas without question. Much better satalites and the sub is MUCH better. The JBL is not that good, I just helped a freind upgrade from the JBL system you mention. He went with Infinitys. Just as a side note Circuit-City is blowing out their stock of Infinitys. They are selling Primus 150's for $69 each with a $30 mail in rebate, so you would get them for $39. Trust me you can't beat this price for some great speakers.

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why do you have to be such a jerk? Just because you know a little about speakers doesnt mean you have to put down other people who dont know as much as you.

Thanks alot Wafflebird, but im not quite familiar with the Primus 150's. Are they good? Could you compare them with JBL's or KLH?

thnx

Also look into the Hsu Ventriloquist VT-12. With an STF-1 it will be around $500(when you buy a HSU sub), but it will be 10 times better then the Athena or JBL system.

The HSU you recommended is quite out of my price range. I am more looking at 200.00-400.00 for a set of speakers + sub.

I do not know that many speaker sets for that much except for the Athena 8 and the JBL I mentinoed above. Could someone tell me if there are better performing speaker sets that are within my price range?
Thanks

Since the Ventriloquist VT-12 is only 300.00 for 5 speakers, I would need to consider finding a good sub for only 150.00 -200.00. Would I have to get the HSU sub, or could I get one from a different company? But wouldnt this ruin my timbre?

The HSU sub is 200 bucks when you buy it with the VT-12. Timber only pertains to the speakers. You can, but for 200, the STF-1 is a great performer.

This is really a hard decesion for me. Im not sure if I should purchace the Athena 8, JBL, or the HSU. I dont know any other speakers that are with in my price range 200-300 and can perform as well as these 3.
Any ideas?
