Not a fan of the concept. I prefer plate amps on commercial subs. I see no reason to complicate setup further for users. That said my sub is passive.

My previous sub was passive as well. IMO, it makes no difference whether it is internal or external, except that with a passive sub you can obviously easily change to a different amp NHT offered subs like this for years, and both SVS and HSU started out with passive subs with external amps.
