Ideal speakers for my new av receiver

Hi,
I'm a total newbie to this stuff so please bear with me. I've purchased a Marantz SR5008. I'm looking to purchase 2 floor standing speakers, and maybe a sub. I'm unsure of whats spec's to look for. I'm in New Zealand with a budget of 1-1.5k for the speakers. I'm looking at the following-Polk Audio TSX330t or TSX440t speakers. I don't really understand clipping or overpowering to be honest. PLEASE help.......

What have you listend to? Everyones tasted are different and what many like you might hate, and vice versa.

If you're buying blind without listening to anything based on others opinions, then you have a 50/50 chance bf being either very pleased or very diaappointed with the same speaker.

Plus, many of us don't koiw what's available where you are.

The Marantz is a good strong amp so you should not have trouble powering most speakers out there. Check out Axiom audio. They have several floor standing speakers to choose from and very good prices to go with excellent sound.
