I wonder if Sarah MacLachlan is into subwoofers?

Every one of her albums seems like a subwoofer demo disc. I'm listening to Surfacing at the moment, and every track turns the sofa into a massage chair. This album also has a very subtle (and unusual, these days) upright bass played with a bow on most tracks. It's a good test of your system's resolution to see if you can follow the bass line continuously through the track. The lap steel is cool too on the Witness track.

Very nicely done pop music.

Are there any other artists so into bass?

Solace (her 1991 release) is even better. A spectrum analyzer points to a lot of energy in the 32Hz range on Track 2, Into the Fire.

Maybe she's a silent investor in SVS or Velodyne. ;)

She was like 18 or 19 when she did that album, so I am sure it was the engineer not her. Yes, most of her albums have excellent sound. Solace and Fumbling Towards Extacy are my favorites. The current album isn't so hot though.

Fiona Apple's albums also all tend to have good bass and good recordings.

You could be right; the bassaholic might be Pierre Marchand.

I often wonder if Sarah isn't more into men of Scotttish decent, not unlike myself. No really, I think about it quite a lot.

Sarah, if you're reading this, call me?

I agree! I've only got a humble CT-100 Velo but can appreciate the bass on that song.

I love her voice as well, IMO it has an ethereal quality to it.

I've seen her live twice. EXCELLENT shows. Seeing goddess in person = WOW.
