Hi guys, I just wanted to get your input on a couple of things. I've been asked to design a home theater/hifi system for a family friend and I wanted to see if you all could take a look at what I've selected and give me your feedback. He already had his heart set on the televisions so while I'd much rather see him with plasma sometimes you have to defer to the customer. Also, I was at my local Magnepan dealer and they had something interesting to say: they advised against power conditioning/surge protection. They said that any power conditioner will limit the current fed to the amplifier and could damage it during those moments when the amp is demanding peak power. They also said that modern power supplies make surge protection largely redundant. Has anyone else heard this?

So I began the installation today. We have not been able to setup the marantz/focal combination yet, nor have we calibrated the televisions, so my thoughts on these will be coming later. As far as the magnepan/emotiva combination goes: HOLY ****. I can't believe that speakers at this price point can be this lifelike. Has anyone else heard these speakers? They are shockingly good.
