Seeing as both of these movies got universally bad reviews, I sure as hell wouldn't buy them. MAYBE they might be worth a rental.

I'd have to say no to both, especially if you are looking at paying full price for them. These are definitely the kind of movies you rent first.

Push looks like it'd be stupid, IMO. I've had a half dozen people I know tell me that Push is really good (entertaining). I cited the bad reviews with inane plot points and all, and i've been told basically, "yeah, it's got a bunch of crappy stuff in it but it's kinda bad@$$ overall." Any thoughts from those who've actually seen it?

My friend brought over Push, a rental. He was apologetic when the movie was over. :p

However, I would recommend this title to darien, because there are a few hot Asian girls. :p

So, it was nice to see a bunch of Asian actors, with a good amount of Hong Kong footage. However, this movie is for when you are very bored and have nothing better to put on.

The PQ seemed to be below average as well.

Is a movie like Wanted going to be on the same level as this title? Or will it be better?

Wanted was pretty stupid but quasi-entertaining. It was almost as dumb as Shoot 'em Up. Push looks to be stupid and non-entertaining like Jumper or Transformers 2. I hope I'm wrong. I'm tempted to order it on non-OAR, 384 (not even Warner style 640)Kbps Dish VOD/PPV.

Knowing looks ridiculously dumb as well.

Sorry to be a kill-joy. However, the Bourne series and Casino Royale proved that action movies can be entertaining without beating the viewer over the head with an idiot stick.

Thanks guys! My wife would have killed me if I spent another 50 bucks on 2 terrible movies. I just seen on the back that they were in DTS and thought they would at least sound good. It usually doesn't take much to keep me entertained.
If I happen to buy something awful, I watch it, laugh and put it in the ol' library.

That's a very wise decision there. I also decided to even pass on their rental for now. I think Push is not even a rental, and Knowing, is just because I want to know. :D

So my new resolution is to totally ignored Push, forever.
And give a shot (rental only) to Knowing, but not yet, there just ain't any push for now.

Knowing was mildly entertaining until the ending, which was terrible IMO. Still worth a rental if you like Nick Cage or it looked interesting to you.

Cage needs to find the code for "how to restart a movie career". Knowing just looks retarded. Yahoo Movie Mom said she will save you 1 1/2hrs of your life and tell you the stupid ending because it is so bad.

Push looks pretty lame to me.

Well,

I saw Push 2 days ago, and Knowing last night (neither on blu-ray though).

I'll echo some of the thoughts/predictions here regarding the movies themselves...

Push was entertaining...but it wasn't a "good" movies in terms of plot. For me, Push ranked on par with Wanted. Watchable one time...entertaining...but forgettable.

Knowing was....well....I watched it...and kinda feel like I wasted my time. I've never been a fan of Cage's acting, and it certainly isn't any better in this movie. There are some ridiculously dumb lines in the movie - some that really don't seem to fit but are just thrown in anyway. And the ending was terrible. All in all, I wouldn't watch it again, wouldn't recommend it to anyone either.

OK, I'm going to my movie store in about 20 minutes, I need to rent two Blu-ray movies. Quick recommendation, please?

Can't say I've seen the Bluray, but I am very very sorry that I've seen the movie at the theaters.

We saw Knowing on Friday. Four viewers gave it 4 out of 5 stars. Decent plot (kind of like a weak 2001:...), good acting except for Cage, and one of the best audio tracks I've heard with tons of LFE!! It's worth the rental for the LFE alone, IMHO.

I would rate Push as a rental. My expectations were low going in because all of the bad reviews. Just don't expect too much. I'd say it was a little better than Wanted.

I went to my video store, and I did not rent "Push", perhaps another time.

But I did rent the Blu-ray of "Knowing", mainly to provide my two 15 inchers a good workout,
and give my place a new face-lift. :D

I did also rent "The Code" on Blu-ray.

I will probably buy them both anyways! I was on the fence this whole thread, I don't know? Maybe I will make my wife watch both so she can really give me hell!!! and then watch them collect dust on the shelf.

I think I have a sickness (well that is what everyone says) that I have a "Movie Problem". I never rent only buy, regardless the movie or price. Any cures for this illness, besides going broke?

In the inimitable words of Darth Vader:

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Seriously, try Netflix for a bit. Here is the 2 week trial offer they have.

2 BD's a month plan (the minimal plan) is only $6. Give it a shot. I also buy more than rent, by far, but it'll still save you quite a bit over the long run.
