hi, i found this one subwoofer at radioshack.com and the price is quite low. the specs looks quite good based on the info on this page http://www.adelcom.net/BIC-VSeriesSubwoofer.htm. the model number of the sub is BIC D1210R. the price at radioshack.com is $159. i planned on using it for a home theater, but i'm not sure if it will provide good bass quality. the size of my home theater is 15'x20'. can anybody who knows about subwoofer or have used this specific model before tell me if this sub would be good enough for a room of the size i've mentioned above. also, i would highly appreciated if anybody knows a good sub (10"-12") for home theater at the price of $350 below. thank-you.

You don't want that one. With your budget (maybe a little stretch here or there), here's a good list to consider:

If you're going super cheapo-entry level:

If you want quality over pure output:
http://www.hsustore.com/stf2.html
or

or
http://www.sounddistributors.com/buynow.asp?action=detail&prid=1052&crid=57&cat_name=Powered+Subwoofers

You've got a decent size room, so you may want to consider a 12" or larger driver.

If you want pure output over quality, but biggest sub for your buck:

For $429, you can get a SVS 10" with a 300 w amp:

No question that you will have your money's worth with the above.
I agree, but with shipping, he's pushing $480. If you're going to go for broke, you might as well buy the best $600 subwoofer money can buy and just make payments. It's expensive, but you'd probably never have to upgrade (famous last words once addicted to bass ;) )

By all accounts the SVS PB10 is the bang for the buck king. Do you have your AV receiver yet? The only small gotcha with the PB10 is that you need a dedicated sub pre out on the receiver to connect with the PB10. All AV receivers will have this but stereo or integrated mostly will not. Have fun. :)

I have one D1210R sub and I don't care for it. At high volume the amp repeatedly cut off. I sent it back for repair and it still did it. So I went to Parts Express and bought one of their plate amps (DAYTON SA240 240W Prt# 300-804). I really liked how the amp performed from a budget stand point that I bought 1 more to replace the aging amp from my BIC V1200sub. Now after listening to two of them I decided to build two of my own with PE's help. I purchased (2) 2.0 cubic sub cabinets and 2 more DAYTON SA240 240W amps. I also purchased (2) Infinity 12" Ref 1250w 4ohm subs. Now I have (4) 12" home theater subs each with 240 watts. But if I were you I'd go with DAYTON DSUBK-15 15" POWERED SUBWOOFER KIT Prt# 300-770.
