Given Speakers now what?

Hi all I appreciate you taking the time to read my thread.

I am a college student who recently was given a pair of Totem Acoustic Arros speakers for my first apartment. Unfortunately, I am not an audioholic so I am pretty clueless in terms of what I need to get these speakers up and running (cables, amplifier, receiver, etc.). There are several home theater showrooms in my area. That being said, I am reluctant to visit these showrooms since I am uneducated on the subject matter and a younger woman. My fear is being taken for and deceived into purchasing unnecessarily expensive equipment. I want to do these speakers justice and pair them with the right equipment but I am also on a "college budget".

My question is what do I need to purchase to get Totem Acoustic's Arros speakers up and running? Also, what type of products would you recommend that would work well with these speakers?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Lindz

First off, congratulations. they are fine speakers for those with discriminating tastes. Here's a review.

That being said, they really aren't geared towards home theatre applications. Music listening in a near field environment, yes. They would excel in a two channel system where realistic reproduction of acoustic music is your main concern.

Now, what are your expectations for them?
