OK so here is what I'm wanting to do, don't know if its possible but I guess its worth a shot.
I would like to purchase a receiver and speakers for home entertainment and also would like to have wireless speakers outside for my pool area that can be controlled separate but powered by the same receiver. Is this possible and if so what do I need to purchase?

Also can someone explain the difference from 5.1,7.1,7.2 etc? This stuff is so confusing and I'm a engineer and make a living making things complicated!

Wireless speakers, by definition, do not get power from the receiver since they would have to be powered or have their own separate amp. It can be done easily by using Zone 2 output to send signal to the wireless speakers via their transmitter.

5.1 is 5 speakers and the sub is the ".1" and so on and so forth for 7.2, 9.2, 11.2 (yes that is possible!), etc...

I'm looking at purchasing a Yamaha RX-V671

Is this receiver capable of doing what i want? Is there a more cost friendly receiver that could do it?
