For those who haven't heard, Klipsch being sold to AUDIOVOX!

Seriously, I have no life.
Oh the humanity!

This is a dark day in the world of home audio...
Expect an avalanche of total junk from that quarter. Audiovox have a history of acquiring famous marks and turning them into total junk. For example look what they did with Acoustic Research!

Great. Klipsch just recently bought out API, a pretty fine Canadian speaker company that was responsible for several well-reviewed and respected speaker brands including Mirage, Energy and the now defunct brands Athena (of which Klipsch shut down production) and Sound Dynamics, which was the linear predecessor of Athena.

That's a lot of good stuff that ain't gonna be no mo. :(

I'm sure all Audioholics combined could come up with enough dough to buy Klipsch. Now wouldn't that be cool :D

As long as I get complimentary speakers of my choosing for my donation of $100...

I want a full surround set of their reference speakers. I enjoyed the ones I heard a couple years ago :p

I wonder how this will affect their Heritage line. The mighty K-Horn is one of my dream speakers.

You can have them....

Check Audiogon.... $1700 each http://show.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/st.pl?spkrfull&1277316164&item&Hifiheaven2002&4&5&6&http://cgi.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/srch_fs.plQQANYAAKEYWAApurlsrchAAEXYAAstAAAApalladium

I can even pick them up for ya.... :) I gotta make a trip up there and give them a better listening session... Never got to actually stretch the legs of the P-39's I had listened to.... it was late and his kids were almost sleeping, but I will tell you they are seriously an uncompromised - extremely beautiful speaker...

Audiovox

They will use spring clip binding posts, foam surrounds and 1/8" MDF to make the new Klipsch line more affordable for the public....eventually all products will be Klipsch-Audiovox clock radios and every family will have one.

Oh god, oh jesus, you had me seriously thinking about that for a moment there. But I just don't have the correct room or amplifier to do them justice. Damn. If you have heard them, can you tell me how they compare to the sound of Klipschorns? RF-83s? I have been curious if their price difference had any kind of corresponding difference in sound quality.

I'm not a Klipsch fan but those I'd love to hear. Oh well I'm tapped - no more toys.

I'm not a huge Klipsch fan, mostly because I don't really care for their lower range stuff and have never gotten the chance to hear the big Klipschhorns.. I was intrigued with the cabinet work they did on the Palladiums and I really wanted to see and hear them badly..... the first P-39f that was delivered in the US was to a guy locally by me Damon Payne, invited myself and Mike Hurd who is from canada and a major Klipsch fan over to check them out... They are truly a spectacular looking speaker, with a fit and finish that is honestly second to none and the color is gorgeous. Every cm of them is just perfectly fit from what I saw - and beautiful co-ordination of metal and wood flavoring was tops in my book...

It was getting already pretty late by the time we arrived so we really didn't get a full on demo of them as the kids were going to bed, but from what I heard the sounded very, very nice with no harshness to them from what I remember of lesser grade Klipsch horns.... They were powered with a 200wpc amp so they had plenty of juice behind them, which is usually where the "harsch" problems lie with Klipsch tweeters not getting enough power.

I liked them very much, but IMO I can never get a full opinion of what a speaker is capable until I get them high up in SPL's to judge their true composure at those listening levels... and I'll bet they get plenty loud. I would very much like to have that chance some day. FWIW, My sigs get very loud and are extremely well composed at those levels, not that I listen like that all the time, I just like to know that they can do it and do it well....

The nice thing about those speakers is they are all roughly the same towers but the bass drivers and overall height of the Palladiums are where the differences are..... If your running a good sub system the smaller 37f would be just as acceptable IMO....

I love the metal strip at the very back of the speaker - just very well done.

Truly a sad day. I still remember the first time I heard the mighty Klipschorns-I was all of 18 and was just starting to appreciate audiophile equipment and recordings. I went to a local stereo store, which graciously demoed their pair of K-horns for me and my buddy even though it was pretty clear to the salesman that we could never afford to actually purchase the speakers-I think he was actually looking for an excuse to crank them up, since it was a slow day in the store. He played the RCA Living Stereo recording of the Carmen Suite (RCA LSC-2449, Gibson/Royal Opera House Orchestra) which I finally acquired after a long search and is still one of my all-time favorite classical music recordings. The listening session was life changing, to put it mildly-I had never heard a speaker system like that one before in my young life and was awestruck by the quality (and volume level!) of the sound. I still have a set of construction drawings for the original K-horn design that I have always wanted to replicate in my woodshop but never found the time (I also have a set of factory drawings for the JBL Hartsfields, another legendary folded horn speaker from the same era, that would also be a fun woodshop project). One can certainly debate the merits of horn speakers vs other designs, but I will always have a special place for the Klipschorns because of that early experience.

Not a good sign.

Too bad it wasn't Harden or D&M. Audiovox seems entirely inappropriate. This is like Yugo buying Mercedes.

I would like to see their cinema/commercial/Heritage stuff survive (i.e. what is produced in Hope, AR).
