I have never experienced 1080P

What if any 1080p gear do you own?

None

Is 1080p alone enough of a reason to upgrade your current non-1080p equipment?

I doubt it

If you have seen 1080p content did you really notice an improvement over 720p and 1080i?

I have not seen any

I am planning to get a 1080P display for the bedroom. Not because I want it for TV or movies, but because I want the resolution for the computer. The current popular resolution for LCD TVs is 1366x768 which is not much vertical resolution for the computer.

Yes I believe so. Nothing out there yet except the HD video players (BD-HD) but we are headed that way.
If you have seen 1080p content did you really notice an improvement over 720p and 1080i?
Yes I have. I do believe there is a improved difference. Not as much as DVD to HD-DVD.

The only 1080p content is HD DVD and Blu Ray. Still the movie selection is limited.

If you have seen 1080p content did you really notice an improvement over 720p and 1080i?

I haven't seen 1080p

- I have an Xbox 360 HD-DVD player and a 65" 1080p DLP television.

- 1080p is the reason I bought the HD-DVD player, and I will upgrade to HD-DVD / Blu-Ray as necessary, so yes. It is.

- On the 65" DLP, the difference is noticeable and pleasurable to me.

I don't own any 1080p gear. I don't believe it's a good enough reason to upgrade, as it would cost hundreds or thousands of dollars to upgrade from 1080i, which to me is a marginal improvement.

I own a Playstation 3 with 1080p support. My Panasonic plasma display can accept a 1080p signal but does not actually display a full 1080p image.

1080p isn't a reason for me to to upgrade equipment in itself, but I'm planning to wait and upgrade my receiver until I've had a chance to find one that has both 1080p and HDMI 1.3 support.

I have viewed 1080p content, and if you stand close enough to the display or have a projector or huge display, the difference is clear. With my TV and sitting at my watching position, 1080p is only a slight upgrade from 720p.

What if any 1080p gear do you own?
1. 42" flat panel lcd
2. HTPC
3. Lumagen HDP scaler

Is 1080p alone enough of a reason to upgrade your current non-1080p equipment?
No, but it is a factor.
I'm waiting for prices to drop on projectors.

If you have seen 1080p content did you really notice an improvement over 720p and 1080i?
1080p over long run component to the lcd from the scaler produced banding.
1080p over DVI from the HTPC produced nothing spectacular.

I do NOT currently own any 1080p gear. I do believe that upgrading to a
1080p tv would offer very little, if any, improvement when compared to my 768p 40 " Sony LCD tv. As such, there are no plans to upgrade any time soon. From the 1080p screens I have seen thus far, I really could NOT see much of an improvement. Of course, it is only fair to mention that I have only viewed 1080p screens at a few retailers and not in the privacy of mine or anybody elses ht.

1) I don't own any

2) I don't think it is enough of a difference over 720p or 1080i to justify the upgrade.

3) I honestly couldn't notice the difference when I compared them.

I have not yet been able to do a side by side comparison. I have seen the output in a non-gaming environment. My initial reaction is that, as of today, the visible difference is minimal.

Not at this time. Perhaps when there is more media offered in 1080p

If you have seen 1080p content did you really notice an improvement over 720p and 1080i?
I haven't even seen anything in 1080p.

What if any 1080p gear do you own?

Sharp 46" LCD TV, iSync Pro video processor. Costco had the Sharp on sale such that the price was comparable to 720p LCD TV's at other local stores.

Is 1080p alone enough of a reason to upgrade your current non-1080p equipment?

No, because ...

If you have seen 1080p content did you really notice an improvement over 720p and 1080i?

No, I can't really tell the difference between 720p and 1080p. The local Microcenter had two 46" Sony LCD TV's next to each other. One was the 720p model, the other was the 1080p model. About the only difference I could see between them was the price. Ditto with the local CompUSA and two 46" Samsung LCD TV's. If I squint really hard at certain parts of the image, I can kinda sorta maybe imagine that I see a difference between them. But since I don't watch TV by focusing on only a certain part of the image to see how pixelated it looks, the two resolutions are essentially identical to me.
