WOW! Tom managed to keep his hatred of the Wii in check and even admit that some of the games looked fun and interesting. I am impressed!
On a serious level though, I was fine with Nintendo's E3 show, but not excited at all. There was nothing that made me think less of Nintendo's near future, but nothing that really grabbed my attention either. It was basically a retreat into their established franchises and after so many years, it's a little hard to really be enthusiastic about yet another Mario game. Metroid: Other M was definitely the highlight in my eyes with RedSteel 2 following right behind. I'm also pretty sure that Tiger Woods with Motion Plus control will easily become the highest selling 3rd party title EVER.
But where the heck was Pikmin? I would seriously have bet $100 we were going to see Pikmin 3 announced for a 2009 launch, but...nothing! And while it was brought up purely as a joke over at IGN, I was actually thinking we might see the long lost DD64 game, Marionette. I mean, c'mon! A Mario themed puppeteering game with Wii Motion Plus controls? It practically sells itself!
Final thought: while the Vitality Sensor was described as something that could help players learn to relax or even fall asleep, anyone who remembers BioTetris knows that this is not a new peripheral and it can most certainly be used to also ramp up the stress level and make games more challenging! It's rather funny to see Nintendo trying this idea yet again.
