Dual subs for a square room?

So I've narrowed it down to two places my sub sounds the best but both locations have strengths and weaknesses, would placing a second sub in the other location help even out the response?

Also is it a big deal if the subs are different?

Second sub can help even out the response, yes. If the subs are different you might have to put more effort into blending them. But it can be done, given enough patience and beer. Do you have a DSP and measurement mic, or does your receiver individually correct dual subs?

My receiver has no room correction. It's also got an active sub output,(receiver from an onkyo htib) which means I'd have to run it in parallel into the high level inputs.

What make/model sub do you have? What would be your budget for a 2nd subwoofer?
