876 has Audyssey Dynamic EQ and Dynamic Volume. ISF controls. Not sure, but I suppose it's possible that colorspace was corrected with Reon use (if the designs were identical as with Integra 9.8 to 9.9 versions).

IMO, the 876 is definitely more desirable. It just boils down to the price difference. I think I would pay $200 more for the 876 somewhat easily, and past that point I'd have to think about it.

jostenmeat has pretty much covered all of the points.

As an 876 owner I would say that the dynamic eq is easily worth a $200 dollar price difference.

The isf controls are great as well; you can make adjustments for all the standard picture settings you find in your tv, plus RGB and gamma, and you can also apply 3 types of NR, and that’s for each source. The reon implementation in the 876 is better than the 875 as well.

Price is the only real difference IMO.

the 875 is cheaper at accessories4less.

Both are a bit much for an AVR IMO.
As already stated in previous post there is real and useful difference between these two model years.

I know you are proponent of cheaper AVRs, the DCX and external amplification, but I seriously doubt this combination is going to best either of these AVRs, in their easy of setup and flexibility, and ability to EQ across multiple seating positions for every channel. Let alone getting real video processing that is actually worth using.

The bottom line is that Onkyo fixed all of the bugs with the XX5 product line and repackaged it as the 876/906. I wouldn't look at the 875/905 if you cared about its video processing abilities. All the models (805/875/905 and 876/906) should have very similar amplification capabilities.

Are you going to buy the TX-SR876?

It had been available a lot of places for $899 new (cheaper than refurbished at Club Onkyo). However, recently Onkyo changed their displayed pricing policy so many places show $1699.

Give J&R a call because I think they'll honor the $899 price. Their webpage for it says to call them for a better price. Ask for that one and hold firm.

Well at least you got some sort of discount!

I've been told that the TX-SR876 is discontinued/EOL.

The 876 is still available and is only roughly $100 more than the 875.

It is well worth it for all the nice additional features.
I am very happy with my 876, highly recommended.
