DefTech 7004 - do I need a surge protector?

Purchased the DefTech 7004'2 & 2500 center.........now I need to know if I need any type of electrical protection to start using them?

I would. No sense in risking it. I lost a ReplayTV (Tivo like device) in a storm...

It can't hurt, better safe than sorry. I've got all my powered speakers running on surge protectors.

I use and reccomend the power conditioners from APC. Panamax makes some nice stuff too.

Go with a name brand that specialize in power protection like APC and Tripp-Lite and with at least 3000 joules of protection. And change the surge suppressor once a year because every time they take a hit they get weaker.

Yeah, I use Panamax and Tripp-Lite also.
