If it were me, I would be looking at three or four Outlaw Audio Ultra-X12s, Monolith 12" THX Ultras, Hsu Research VTF-2 mk5s, or SVS PC-2000 Pros.
So Shady, do you think it would be best to spread them around the room or run one nearfield? You know, if a guy just happens to have 3 big powerful subwoofers..?

Is Monoprice coming out with a new Processor?
Im still probably 4-6 months out from actually purchasing.

Thanks for the sub info. at this point im leaning to 2 Monoprice 15" THX Ultras
There is speculation.
I had heard rumors that there was a factory problem among other things.
Also, they had been promising DTSX Pro along with a path to HDMI 2.1 and perhaps came upon a hardware limitation...
Again, speculation.

That should be pretty good. At least, it could not be worse than the Marantz from a performance view.

I don't know if Monoprice is coming out with a new processor.

Two Monolith 15" THX Ultras would be a pretty killer system. Keep in mind that those are still large and enormously heavy. A lot of people just do not get what a hassle that can be. And god help you if you have to carry them up or down a flight of stairs, especially a stairwell with a bend in it. You would need a furniture dolly or shoulder strap system as well as assistance from a friend who is in good physical shape.

That would be a killer system for sure. If you want the ultimate, get the Monoprice HTP-1 processor. That can have 5 balanced sub outs individually calibrated by Direc Bass Control. Get 5 good subs, place four in each corner and one behind the listening position. Dial them all in with Dirac. That would be insanely good bass, probably close to perfect.

i see your point about size. 4 Monoprice M-12 V2 12in THX would be nice as well,
Probably better than 2 15” thx

Also i didnt even realize the 4 12” thx is still cheaper compared to 2 15”
The 12” still weigh in at 115lbs which is insane

Meh.
I freelifted a 100# Sub once.

(I wouldn't do it again, and do not recommend trying.)

But I also agree that at least 3, if not four Subs will cure a majority of problems. That said, you need to account for how you are going to manage 4 subs, and that does not happen by magic.

I can't argue against four 12s either. If you have the room and waf isn't a factor it's about as good as it gets. Even in a big room.

+1 for the Paradigms. I have the 800F and 600C, and they are great speakers.

I went with the Paradigm Defiance X12 subwoofers (×2) as well, and I'm looking to add a 3rd one to my system.

I'd also recommend Outlaw Audio 7000x for your amplifier. I bought a "used" one (brand new in box basically), and it's really nice (that's a 5000 as well right beside it).

But those Hypex amps are great too, and if I hadn't found the Outlaw 7000x for sale, I was going to buy either a VTV or Buckeye amp.

Does she like a good movie experience? Does she pay all the bills and you are the toy? Do you have any say about an interest of yours, and possible something mutually enjoyable?

;)

Don't mind me...

With the acoustically transparent screen, did you think about going with a third tower?

I don't think that is the unit weight. I think that is the shipping weight. I believe the units weight is something like 98 lbs. That is still formidable, however. Significantly easier to handle than the 15" and I have had to deal with both.

The Marantz AV7706 is basically the same as the AV7705 but with support for 8k. The measured performance of the AV7705 was pretty bad compared to nearly every other modern processor. You might want to skip the AV7706. Get the Denon or Anthem equivalent. The Monoprice HTP-1 is a terrific processor, ESPECIALLY for a multi-sub system, but who knows if it will ever be in stock again. You would have to get in contact with the Monolith product line to inquire.
Which Denon model?

Which Denon model?
I personally think the Denon AVR 3700 has everything a guy needs.

Or refurbished for a little less. This one comes with a 3 year warranty.

Looking through Denon's line up, I don't see anything without amplifiers. It's a shame, I was hoping they would have something with balanced pre-amp outs.

I have the Denon X4200w but I dont use it because I haven't completed my HT. I honestly bought it a few years ago and it just sat, but I figured its worth to go to a better processor, separates, no?

Yes, but at the time I ordered the speakers I wasn't sure when I'd be getting an ATS and I wasn't even sure I'd able to make it work in my room. As it worked out, I found a screen and it arrived the same day the speakers did. Considering the trouble my dealer went through to get me the Espresso grain finish for my LCR, I wasn't going to return the C (not sure they could even get another tower in Espresso grain).

And tbh I'm happy I went with the 600C, as down the road this setup probably makes its way into the rec room, and they'll most likely not be an ATS there, so the C works out better that way.
