Convert composite to component signal

I recently got a SONY LCD 19'' with build in tv tuner. I have tried to connect an xbox and a GC on it with the standard composite cables, but the picture is crap. I connected a dvd player through component though and it looked GREAT, not even having anabled progressive. Now i want to convert the xbox signal to component to hook it up in the component input that may increase the quality as it did with the dvd player.

is there a cheap way to do it ?

What do you consider cheap? The monster XGL400 CVAA-10 XBOX Component Video Cable can be had for under $50 typically. Amazon's got it of $40 and change.

I have the Monster and it's good. Check around the web. You should be able to find something...
