Dear Sirs,

I am new here (and new audioholic) and I wanted to consult you guys on how to make use of the hardware my friend pawned to me before he passed away.

The audio gears on-hand are :

harman kardon avr 4550 7.1 Ch.
mordaunt-short sat speakers 4 units (trapezoid shape) 4-8 ohms each
Infinity passive subwoofer 2 units 3 ohms each / 100 watts each

I remember last time I saw it installed in my friend's home that all the speakers are working simultaneously.

After my checking of the speaker connections at the rear of the receiver there are 7 connections (Front L/R, Rear L/R, Back L/R and Center). Is it correct to plug the two passive subwoofer at the Back L/R?

I am not satisfied with the bass output from the sat speakers alone.

Please help me.

Thanks very much.

Ehira

You can plug the passive subwoofers into the rear channels but they won't work worth a crap. There ain't no information for them to reproduce coming from them.

To use these passive subwoofers, you first need a pair of amplifiers. You plug these into the LFE/Subwoofer outputs of the receiver, and then you connect the passive subwoofers into those amps.
