Connect laptop audio to TV

I was trying to set up the laptop such that I can watch movies using the TV. I have tried multiple laptops, and the TV has A/V inputs and antenna input but no S-video. These are the two ways I have tried to set up the whole system:
**|------------------------>S-video--->|
PC|-------------------------------------|RF modulator--->Coaxial--->TV
**|--->minijack-convertor-R/L cables--->|

**|------------------------>S-video--->RF modulator--->Coaxial--->TV
PC|
**|--->minijack------------>Computer speakers

The second setup, of course, works. But the first does not, in that there is video but no audio. So, what do I need to output the audio from the laptop to the TV.
Thanks a lot for your time and your advice. Sincerely,
Sagi

Have you tried a 3.5mm jackplug from your laptop to tv audio imputs(red and white)?

How about a scart adapter if your tv has scart connection.

If I understand correctly, your PC has an S-video output but no composite video output. Likewise, your TV has a composite video input but no S-video input. Correct?

If so, you can get an all-in-one cable solution like the one at this link (just an example, as I'm sure there are others out there). Also, because you already have a minijack-to-RCA audio cable, you can just get an adapter to go from S-video to composite video like the one at this link (again, just an example - you can surely find one cheaper).

Hi guys,
Thanks for your posts. Actually, the problem is that I have got the thing all set up (and even though the TV does not have S-video the RF modulator acts as a S-video to A/V convertor) and the video output is fine. But there is no audio when I connect the TV either directly or through the RF modulator using the minijack-composite convertor.
I have tried using a minijack-->stereo jack-->stereo-jack-A/V convertor. It didn't work either. I do not have a SCART connection. I am wondering if there is some settings that I need to change to output sound from a PC like one does when outputting video.

Hey. I can't say why the audio wouldn't work when you put it through the modulator because I've never done that. If you let me know which modulator you are using, then I can look into that component. One thing that comes to mind is to make sure that the PC is set up to output analog audio. For a lot of PCs, if you have it set to output a digital audio signal, it won't output any analog. There should be an option or checkbox on the soundcard control panel for that.

FYI, if you connect the audio directly to the TV but use the modulator for the video, then you are using the coax input on the TV (the screw-on type connector like you would use for cable TV) for video, but you are using a different input for audio. On every TV that I've used, the coax input and the A/V inputs (RCA-type connectors) are considered different inputs and can't be combined. Therefore, you can't watch video over the coax input while listening to audio over the RCA auxilary input. Hence, you need to have audio and video going into the same input on the TV.

Thanks again. I did connect both the video and the audio through the RF modulator though and so both the sound and the video was supposed to go in through the coaxial input. But the digital/analog issue might just be the problem. I will try finding if there is such an option, as I do believe that my laptop has S/PDIF output using the same headphone jack. Below is the link for the manual for the RF modulator (the file size exceeds upload limit). Sincerely
