Computer speakers --> bedroom extension cable?

Let me start by saying I know this is a ridiculous question, but it needs to be asked so I can get my Dad off my back. He (and I) are wondering.

How/what kind of extension to run from a set of comupter speakers to his bedroom (I'd say roughly 100 feet) Would we just need a simple RCA cable? Here's what I have pictured in my head

computer>>some sort of extension cable>>speaker

would that work?

again, sorry for the really n00bish question.

You'd just need a 100' cable with 3.5 mm (1/8") stereo mini plugs on each end assuming a sound card with the typical mini jacks for line-out and speakers with the same jack for input.

That's a pretty long run and there may be some loss but it would probably work. I don't think you'll find pre-made cable that long though. You can connect multiple shorter cables together with barrel connectors.
