Cerwin Vega Upgrade

I have a 3 year old Cerwin Vega AVS 5.1 speaker system that I want to upgrade to be 7.1 compatable. If I just buy a pair of the newer C.V. bookshelf speakers, will it sound good or do I have to start all over again with a new system?

go look at Axiomaudio.com. I went from Vegas to these and couldn't be happier.
