Go for a Fiber Optic Star Ceiling, they are excellent for HT's and are NOT boring, actually the are usually the most talked about item in the Home Theater.

I was thinking about using some Star tiles, but I have a big room (22x14) and it would be very expensive to do the whole room this way. Do you jnow of a good (high quality, low price) supplier of Optic Star Tiles?

I used the unfinished version of these in our kitchen and really liked them. They are made of thin styro, are easy to cut and installed with adhesive caulk. Painted them with acrylic Killz. I plan on using them again in my home theater project in combination with a central starfield.

It obvisouly depends on the look you're going for, but definitely a very understated and sophisticated look. I especially like the antique copper tiles.
