Carrying case for AudioEngine A5's

I have a pair of AudioEngine A5's which I use when I car-travel and plan to spend more than one night in the same hotel room.
So far, I have been using the original cardboard box and packaging. This is a bit bulky, but works; however, the box is starting to get a bit ragged and I would like to switch to something a bit more durable.
The speakers measure 2 each at 10.0”(H) x 7.0” (W) x 7.75” (D). It would be nice to have some spare storage for misc wires, ipod, etc., but I could always stick that stuff in another sack. I still have the speaker socks, so protection against surface abrasion is covered.
Any ideas on a good adaptable case or padded bag for this?
Thanks!

I think of some sort of duffel style bag. I like bags and packs with lots of compartments and thingys. The primary concern is if it's too big/cavernous inside, where the speakers bang into each other. So, I guess you're looking for about 10"x16"x8" or so. The 16" width for 7.0Wx2, plus a couple of inches more for your wires 'n ipod.

Hm, I think of a place like REI:

Things like a car detailing bag crossed my mind too:

JM,
Read you post and immediately ran down to basement to check a stiff, padded duffel that came with my cordless tools. It would do the job well, but the dimensions do not work out.:(
The speakers do not have grills so I need secure protection over the drivers. But your post got me thinking tools, and this looks like a viable option at $35:

I'll wait a couple of days in case there are other ideas. This looks good. Only drawbacks are I'll have to add padding and would rather support US economy than China's, but I doubt there is a US made offering for anything like this.

I did this 4 years ago and thought I had posted photos!
This has really increased the utility of these speakers for me!
Better late than never.

The case has a nice "cool factor". I've though about hand-cuffing it to me, just to make people wonder;):

With lid open. The socks the speakers came in make this easy, but pillow cases would work. Speakers face the ends to protect drivers, and cords and wires are either sandwiched between the backs of the speakers or laid on top (power cord shown on top). There is about 1.75" clearance on top.

One speaker and cables out.

Completely unloaded. Case is 7.5" wide. Speakers are 7". I cut file pocket out of left side to get nice fit. Keep manual in other pocket (though after 4 years of not looking at it I can probably toss). I always intended to clean up where I cut out the pocket, but after 4 years, I only notice it now because I am "showing" it, so that won't happen!

I just checked and the A5+ is about 2" deeper for the speaker with the amp. I don't believe the above case would fit the A5+ (although the Emotiva Airmotiv 4s would fit well).
Unfortunately, Harbor Freight no longer carries it. Here it is on Amazon:

For the larger AudioEngine 5+, this with some padding (yoga mat?) is probably a better option, though you'd have to gut it:
