Buying Store Display Units

Not sure if it is really a good idea or not. I'm actually not even sure of the actually life span of an LCD or Plasma screen. While looking for answers to my picture setting problem I found a thread on Amazon that describes my tv problems perfectly.

http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-LNT4661-issue-reverts-dynamic/forum/Fx3K18FB78CT5YS/Tx3HGOTOHGHG0KF/1?_encoding=UTF8&asin=B000N50S5Y

My model is the Samsung ln40c500, but it is doing the exact same thing.

It appears that a occasional flash of a blank screen and the picture resetting back to dynamic mode just may be an issue with the shop mode setting.

Hope this helps everyone experiencing this problem.

Expect most TV's to last around 10 years or 100k hours give or take...

Years ago...

Years ago I bought a DISPLAY model TV.
It was from FRETTER, it was a model number
CX2780A It had the DSP Field Surround Sound feature
as well as Picture-IN-Picture, which I used ALOT!
How long was it a FLOOR model? I don't know,
but it lasted about 14 years before it went out on me.
IT was set for FULL ON Contrast, and Color.
I turned that down eventually,
I did have 1 issue with the sound a couple of months after purchase,
the right side speaker made a rattling noise, so I
put a piece of folded paper in between the speaker grill,
and the plastic tv housing. This seemed to fix the problem.
At the time, I could not afford the 32" or the 36 inch version of
this tv. So I had to settle for a 27 inch.
The 27" cost me $675 total on Sunday Aug. 16 1992.
The others were like $799 and $999.
Back then, that was ALOT of money!
